--e-global-color-text ); letter-spacing: 0.1px;\">Steeds vaker zie je wandelaars op lage trailrunschoenen. Met snelle pas schieten ze voorbij en dan twijfel je toch even aan die zware, hoge schoenen die je aan hebt. Althans, dat dacht ik een jaar of twee geleden. Lage schoenen zijn immers helemaal niet veilig en geven je enkels weinig steun?!. Misschien heb je de switch al gemaakt en draag je met overtuiging lage schoenen. Of blijf je vertrouwen op je hoge schoenen? <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); letter-spacing: 0.1px;\">Je schoeiselkeus is erg belangrijk en heel persoonlijk. Eigen voorkeur, type tocht, weersomstandigheden en je fysiek zijn bepalend voor het type schoen dat voor jou geschikt is. In deze blog deel ik mijn ervaringen en hoop ik je meer inzicht te geven in de voor- en nadelen van hoog of laag. Voorheen liep ik altijd op hoge schoenen en nu al langere tijd op lage trailrunners. Alleen op alpien terrein en in sneeuw pak ik mijn oude vertrouwde hoge bergschoenen erbij.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p><h3><strong>Type schoenen<\/strong><\/h3><p>Er zijn zes type schoenen waar je uit kunt kiezen. De ABCD-categorie\u00ebn, trailrunners en approach. Een korte uitleg over de soorten.<\/p><ul><li><strong>Type A<\/strong>: de lichte lage wandelschoen. Voor niet al te moeilijke en lange wandelingen. Comfortabele schoenen voor hikes bij jou in de buurt.<\/li><li><strong>Type B<\/strong>: de lichte hoge wandelschoen. Bergschoenen die al wat meer stevigheid bieden voor je enkels en een stuggere zool hebben. Geschikt voor de meeste huttentochten.<\/li><li><strong>Type C<\/strong>: de zwaardere hoge wandelschoen. Voor uitdagende wandelingen met zware bepakking. Heeft een stugge zool waardoor de schoen stijgijzervriendelijk is.<\/li><li><strong>Type D<\/strong>: de alpiene schoen. Voor beklimmingen in het hooggebergte. Stijgijzervast, stug en robuust. Deze gebruik je doorgaans niet op je thru-hike.<\/li><li><strong>Trailrunners<\/strong>: schoenen om op onverharde paden hard te lopen of te wandelen. Hebben vaak een goede demping. Slijten relatief snel.<\/li><li><strong>Approach<\/strong>: steviger lage of middelhoge wandelschoen met een robuuste punt. Is vaak slijtvast en geschikt voor klettersteig\/via ferrata\u2019s.<br \/><br \/><\/li><\/ul><p>Je keuze voor de schoen is altijd afhankelijk van het type terrein en de verwachte (weers)omstandigheden. Verwacht je veel sneeuw in het hooggebergte, dan zijn stevige hoge schoenen vanaf de B-categorie aan te raden. Loop je een relatief vlakke trail dan kun je prima uit de voeten met lage schoenen. Bij twijfel kun je de onderstaande voor- en nadelen tegen elkaar afwegen om tot een juiste keuze te komen. Ik probeer mijn nieuwe schoenen altijd goed in te lopen, bij voorkeur op het type terrein waar ik de langere trail ga lopen.<\/p><h3><strong>Voordelen lage schoenen<br \/><\/strong><\/h3><ul><li>Lichter, je beweegt makkelijker door het terrein en verbruikt minder energie.<\/li><li>Soepelere zool, je hebt meer gevoel bij de ondergrond en weet je voeten beter te plaatsen.<\/li><li>Comfort, de pasvorm van lage schoenen zit vaak wat natuurlijker.<\/li><\/ul><h3><strong>Nadelen lage schoenen<\/strong><\/h3><ul><li>Minder steun, door de soepelere zool kunnen je voeten sneller vermoeid raken.<\/li><li>Water van boven, als je in een iets te diepe plas of rivier gaat staan.<\/li><li>Geen enkelbescherming, je enkels worden niet beschermd tegen bijvoorbeeld scherpe rotsen.<\/li><\/ul><h3><strong>Voordelen hoge schoenen<\/strong><\/h3><ul><li>Bescherming, je enkels zijn beschermd tegen rotsen en er loopt minder snel water van bovenaf in.<\/li><li>Steun, de stugge zool biedt meer stevigheid op ruig terrein wat helpt tegen vermoeide voeten.<\/li><li>Warmer, hoge schoenen zijn vaak een stuk warmer.<\/li><\/ul><h3><strong>Nadelen hoge schoenen<\/strong><\/h3><ul><li>Zwaarder, het kost meer energie om je voeten op te tillen.<\/li><li>Minder gevoel op de ondergrond, door de stuggere zool kun je makkelijker een misstap maken.<\/li><li>Minder comfort, hoge schoenen zitten vaak minder natuurlijk.<br \/><br \/><\/li><\/ul><p>Als je je keuze hebt gemaakt kun je nog bepalen of je wel of geen waterdichte schoenen koopt. Zowel lage als hoge schoenen zijn er in beide varianten. Laat je keuze hiervan ook weer afhangen van het type terrein en de verwachte weersomstandigheden. Ik vind het zelf niet erg om soms met natte schoenen te lopen en in de zon zijn ze zo weer droog. Daarom kies ik vaak voor niet waterdichte schoenen.<\/p><p>Na jarenlang op hoge schoenen te hebben gelopen moest ik erg wennen aan lage. Doordat je enkels meer moeten corrigeren voelt dit in het begin zwaarder en meer blessuregevoelig. Door de lage schoenen goed in te lopen en steeds langere tochten te maken, raakten mijn enkels steeds beter getraind en kost het lopen nu zelfs minder energie doordat ik een stuk lichtvoetiger ben. Wanneer de trail het toelaat loop ik op trailrunners.
